Tantalum capacitor is an electrolytic capacitor with tantalum as equipment anode. The use of tantalum will produce a very thin dielectric layer, resulting in higher capacitance per volume and allowing the use of smaller capacitors, which can still meet the needs of modern systems. With the progress of technology, tantalum capacitors can be widely used in various circuits in notebook computers, automotive industry, mobile phones and other equipment, most often in the form of surface mount devices (SMD).
